ARTIST INTRODUCTION

Kristin Carreiro Com Tech Artist

I am a grade 12 student at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School. I have taken Communications Technology for 3 years. I have been exposed to various editing software's such as Final Cut Pro, Soundtrack Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Motion. I have also been able to experience using cameras such as a Nikon D5000 DSLR camera, Panasonic AVC Camera, and a Canon HD Vixia HFS100 camera. I enjoy creating the different assignments in Communications Technology at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School.

VIDEO

GRADE NINE DOCUMENTARY

My Grade 12 Communications Technology class created a video on what grade 9 is like at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School. Final Cut Pro version 7 was used to edit this video. Our group was assigned the "Bloopers" section of this video. My role in this video was all of the video work and what it looked like when it was all put together. We used a Panasonic AVC Camera to shoot these clips. This video is now being shown to Elementary Schools so they know what it is like at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School.

TV COMMERCIAL REPRODUCTION

In Grade 11 Communications Technology we were instructed to pick a television commercial and reproduce it as similar to the commercial as we could. The commercial we chose was "Oreo Fudge Cremes". This commercial was created in a home environment to match the look of the commercial. We used a Canon HD Vixia HFS100 camera. The video was edited in Final Cut Pro version 7. We had to use various angles to create all of the different shots.

KASSAA GAME OF THE WEEK INTRODUCTION

This KASSAA Game of The Week video introduction was created in Final Cut Pro version 7. We also used Motion to create the different effects in the background. Soundtrack Pro was used for the different sound effects and the background music. In Grade 12 Communications Technology we were to create a creative way to introduce what the following video would be about. This in my opinion was my best introduction that I made.

WALMART ADVERTISEMENT

This commercial assignment was shot in a home environment to get the feeling that an average person shops at Walmart. This was an assignment in Grade 11 Communications Technology to enter a contest and create a Walmart commercial. This video was filmed with a Canon HD Vixia HFS100 camera. It was edited in Final Cut Pro version 7. The sound effects and background music were created in Soundtrack Pro.

NATURE MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY

This photograph was taken in the A/V Studio. This photograph was taken with a Nikon D5000 DSLR camera. I used Adobe Photoshop CS3 to make this image much brighter and get the right colour for the flower. When I captured this photograph I tried to focus on the center stems and the pedals on the flower to give it a detailed look.

This photograph was taken in the A/V Studio. This image was captured using a Nikon D5000 DSLR. As a class we were instructed to create something with a piece of paper and take photos of it. My choice was to wrinkle the paper up and make it stand in such a way that it looks like a snow covered mountain. This photograph was edited in Adobe Photoshop CS3. I made it black and white to get the mountain effect and I also made it brighter to be able to see more depth and shadow in the photograph.

This photograph was taken in the A/V Studio. This image was edited in Adobe Photoshop version CS3. It was captured with a Nikon D5000 DSLR. When capturing this photograph I intended for the glass ball to not be focused on and for the metal surrounding it to be more in focus. It gives the effect that it is much like a crystal ball. It also gives it a different texture on the surface of the glass.

This image was captured in the A/V Studio. It was photographed with a Nikon D5000 DSLR camera. I brightened up the apple in Adobe Photoshop CS3. I wanted to get the bright yellow effect to make the apple stand out and look almost good enough to eat. The shine in the apple shows how good it looks and makes it overall a good picture.

My Grade 12 Communications Technology class created these digital photo art images for our schools play "The Secret Garden". Each image was displayed in an art show and my Digital Photo Art was voted "Most Creative". This was photographed with a Nikon D5000 DSLR camera with a 18-55 mm, 3.5 lens. This image was edited in Adobe Photoshop version CS3. The meaning of this photograph is that everyone has secrets that they will always keep quiet.

PERSONAL LOGO

This logo was created for a project in my Grade 12 Communications Technology class. We were instructed to use our initials, shapes, and colours. It was to somehow represent ourselves in this logo. Using Adobe Illustrator version CS3, I created a logo that had 3 stars and my initials in the center. This logo represents what I enjoy because my favorite colour is pink and black compliments it.

This Magazine Advertisement was created in my Grade 11 Communications Technology class. The model and the bottles of make-up were photographed with a Nikon D5000 DSLR camera with a 18-55 mm, 3.5 lens. This was edited in Adobe Photoshop version CS3. We were instructed to match the original magazine advertisement as best as we could. I achieved the highest mark in the class on this project.

This Newspaper Advertisement was created with photos that were taken at Cheerleading Competitions. This is advertising a Cheerleading Group in Kingston, Ontario called Pulse All-Star Cheerleading. This advertisement was created in Adobe Photoshop version CS3. We were instructed to create any advertisement that we wanted for a company. It is part of the Grade 11 Communications Technology course.

This image was edited is Adobe Photoshop version CS3. The model, Stephaine uses this photograph for professional purposes on her website.

This photograph represents one of my favourite sports, which is Cheerleading. It was the medal that we got from our Ontario Championships which we came in 1st place and won overall Grand Champions. In this image I tried to focus on the words "Ontario Championships".
